Origin: Australia

Production method: Steam distilled. The leaf material is gathered by cutting the tree down to about five or six feet. The leaves are cut off with a cane knife and allowed to fall into a large square of sacking that is bundled up and carted to the distillery. Within 18 months to two years, the trees are ready to harvest again. The oil is produced by a number of distillers around northeastern New South Wales, Australia.

Oils That Blend Well With Tea Tree Australia: Tea Tree Australia oil's sharp aroma blends well with bay leaf, bergamot, black pepper, cajuput, cedarwood atlas, cinnamon, clove bud, elemi, ginger, juniper, lavandin, lavender, nutmeg, peppermint, rosemary, sandalwood, thyme, and vetiver.

Cautions and Contraindications: Toxic constituent is cineole. If the oil is high in cineole, it may cause skin irritation in rare cases. It is recommended to apply a skin patch test if someone has sensitive skin. Internal use should not exceed the stated dose. Oxidized tea tree has been shown to cause irritation so be sure that your oil is stored correctly. Toxic rating is Low and a skin patch test is required.

BURNS AND SCALDS*

Tea Tree Australian Melaleuca alternifolia oil: 10-drops

Lavender Lavandula angustifolia oil: 10-drops

Run cold water over the area for at least one minute, and then apply the tea tree/lavender oil blend with a sterile cotton ball or directly from the bottle. This formula is effective for blisters or suppurating burns.

INSECT STINGS AND BITES

Tea Tree Australian Melaleuca alternifolia oil: 10-drops

Peppermint Mentha piperita oil: 10-drops

Apply to the area undiluted as often as needed.
