Benefits: All lobelia species are potent plants, and should be used with care. Lobelia has been used to support smokers trying to kick their habit, but this should only be done under the care of a registered herbalist or physician. Lobelia can be taken in a decoction, fluid extract, infusion, powder, syrup, and tincture.
Cautions and Contraindications: Lobelia has a low-therapeutic margin, and should be used with extreme care. Side effects of lobelia can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, tremors, and dizziness.
The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) cautions: Keep out of reach of children. Consult a practitioner prior to use. Herbs should always be used with care. Not to be used during pregnancy or nursing. Not recommended for infants or toddlers, or for extended periods of time.

SERENITY TINCTURE:
Lobelia Lobelia inflata: 1 ounce
Skullcap Scutellaria lateriflora: 1 ounce
Black cohosh Cimicifuga racemosa: 1 ounce
Myrrh Commiphora myrrha: 1 ounce
Cayenne Capsicum annuum: ½ ounce
Vodka or apple cider vinegar: 2 pints
Mix the herbs and place in a screw top jar with vodka or cider vinegar. Replace lid tightly and leave the jar in a warm spot. Shake well twice a day. After 10 to 14 days, strain and bottle in a dark bottle. Use one to four drops in water, three to four times a day.
