Lavender: Lavandula angustifolia (Mill.)
Why lavender? Long known for its soothing qualities, lavender essential oil is the perfect addition to your evening blend or for simply winding down after an exhausting day. It will transport you to the rolling lavender fields of Provence, France… the wind kicking up, your nose catches the sweet scent of lavender: a floral-herbaceous and refreshing aroma with a pleasant, balsamic-woody undertone.
Quality Assured: Our organic lavender essential oil is responsibly sourced from France. The essential oil is steam distilled from the flowers of the lavender plant. Every batch of oil is Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth and produced without the use of genetic engineering, artificial fertilizers, or pesticides. Additionally, our expert aromatherapists here at the Apothecary Shoppe personally assess all of our oils—using touch, taste, smell, and lab analyses—to ensure that your essential oil is suitable for use and entirely free of adulterants.
Independent third-party lab reports including GC/MS and pesticide testing results are available upon request. Please send a request to apothecary@achs.edu and include the essential oil Latin name and lot number; results include a comparative analysis with ISO and the Pharmacopeia when available.

Formulas:
LAVENDER GEL:
Lavender Lavandula angustifolia oil: 25 drops
Bergamot Citrus aurantium var. bergamia oil: 10 drops
Thyme Thymus vulgaris oil: 5 drops
Beeswax: ¼ ounce
Sweet almond oil: 2 ounces
Warm the almond oil over a pot of hot water or in a double boiler. Add the grated beeswax, varying the amount depending on how firm the final ointment needs to be. You can check the consistency by placing 1 teaspoon of the hot mixture into the freezer for five minutes. If it is too stiff, add more lanolin or oil; if it is too thin, add more beeswax. The consistency can be affected by humidity. Add the essential oils. Let the mixture cool until it is safe to handle. Then stir and pour the mixture into sterile jars (stirring ensures that the tincture or essential oil does not settle on the bottom). Let the mixture cool before putting on the lid.
FRESH SKIN BLEND:
Lavender Lavandula angustifolia oil: 20 drops
Tea tree Australia Melaleuca alternifolia oil: 20 drops
Blend the two oils and store in an amber bottle. Apply with a cotton ball or sterile gauze to the affected area three to four times daily.
