Production Method: Eucalyptus oil is steam distilled from the fresh or partly dried leaves and young twigs.
Wellness Support: Eucalyptus aromatherapy essential oil is a very effective analgesic, having an immediate pain relieving and soothing action. It gives support to muscle stiffness. Along with its antibacterial, antiviral, and antiseptic actions, which help to support respiratory problems and related symptoms, eucalyptus is a decongestant, so tends to reduce congestion.
Perfumery: Eucalyptus is a top note with high aroma intensity. It has a fresh, penetrating, woody aroma.
Oils That Blend Well With Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus oil's intense aroma blends well with cedarwood, lavender, lemon, pine, rosemary, and thyme.
Cautions and Contraindications: Eucalyptus's toxic rating is low, however a skin patch test is required. Eucalyptus should not be applied to the face or nose, or used internally for babies or young children. It is important not to exceed the stated dose, as eucalyptus oil can cause symptoms of poisoning in excessive amounts.
Formulas:
INHALATION
Alcohol, 90%: 4.5-cups
Eucalyptus Eucalyptus globulus oil: 6-t
Thyme Thymus vulgaris oil: 3-t
Pine Pinus sylvestris oil: 3-t
Lavender Lavandula angustifolia oil: 2-t
Lemon Citrus limon oil: 2-t
Mix all ingredients. To prepare as an inhalation, add 3-t to 6-cups of boiling water. This mixture can also be added to the bath water or to footbaths. Use 3-drops in the bath or 1-2-drops in a footbath.
RUBBING OIL
Olive oil: 1-cup
Marjoram Origanum majorana oil: 10-drops
Eucalyptus Eucalyptus globulus oil: 8-drops
Cajuput Melaleuca leucadendron var. cajuputi oil: 4-drops
Black pepper Piper nigrum oil: 2-drops
Mix the oils together and massage painful joints with the warmed oil.
