Wellness Support: Cajuput aromatherapy essential oil has demonstrated effective antibacterial properties. It is useful in providing clear skin. Cajuput also is helpful in pain relief.*
Perfumery: Cajuput has a fruity, sweet middle note and soft tones as it dries out.
Cautions and Contraindications: Cajuput’s toxic rating is low and a skin patch test is required. Do not use at the same time as homeopathic remedies because cajuput oil neutralizes their effects. It can cause stinging if applied undiluted to the skin. Cineole can irritate both the skin and mucous membranes and is not recommended undiluted on wounds or skin inflammation, and may cause tachycardia. A 1-3% dilution should be used to avoid any skin irritation. Cajuput is not known to cause sensitization and is not phototoxic.
Formulas:
BUG OFF
Sweet almond oil: 2-cup
Cajuput Melaleuca leucadendron oil: 100-drops
Lemon Citrus limonum oil: 75-drops
Geranium Pelargonium graveolens oil: 75-drops
Cedarwood Cedrus atlantica oil: 50-drops
Blend essential oils and add to carrier oil. Shake well and apply frequently to exposed skin. Be aware that lemon oil may cause photosensitivity.
