Basil Aromatherapy Essential Oil Organic 2 ml

$3.95USD

Ocimum basilicum

Producing organ: leaf and flower

Origin: Madagascar

Crop: Organic EcoCert GC

Production method: Steam distilled. The basil plant is harvested in full flower for oil production and allowed to wilt for a few hours before steam distilled.

Main therapeutic constituents: methyl chavicol,1,8 cineole.

Wellness Support: Basil aromatherapy essential oil is a very effective psychological support as it is uplifting. It is excellent for use during winter or low-ligh months, or for an early morning stimulant blend when fatigue is a problem.*

Perfumery: Basil has a very high intensity and is considered a top note. It has an uplifting, fresh, penetrating, slightly green fragrance with a faint balsamic, woody undertone and a lasting sweetness.

Oils That Blend Well With Basil: Basil oil’s intense aroma blends well with bergamot, clary sage, geranium, lime, oak moss, opoponax, rosemary, and violet.

Cautions and Contraindications: Basil’s toxic rating is high and a skin patch test is required. Basil should not be used during pregnancy or breast-feeding. It can be used at the recommended dose at other times. It can be intoxicating in excess and can cause nausea and vomiting. Externally, it may cause skin sensitization. Use no more than 3-drops in the bath, as it causes skin tingling. Avoid long-term use if there is a history of estrogen dependent cancer or endometriosis.

Formulas:

HAIR LOSS TONIC OIL

Rosemary Rosmarinus officinalis oil: 20-drops

Lavender Lavandula officinalis oil: 20-drops

Basil Ocimum basilicum oil: 10-drops

Thyme Thymus vulgaris oil: 2-drops

Cedarwood Cedrus atlantica oil: 2-drops

Mix the oils together in a 1/2-oz amber or opaque bottle and use as a concentrate or blend into 1-oz of grapeseed oil with the addition of 1-t of jojoba oil. If using the concentrate massage a few drops into your scalp nightly or apply a few drops to your hairbrush. This oil is wonderful for adding shine to your hair and stimulating growth while not leaving your hair greasy. If using the diluted formula massage into the scalp for a minimum of two minutes and follow with a warm towel to aid absorption.

STIMULATING BLEND

Sweet Orange Citrus sinensis oil: 3-drops

Basil Ocimum basilicum oil: 3-drops
