Production method: Steam distilled. Anise oil is steam distilled from crushed seeds. Crushing the seeds increases the oil yield and reduces the amount of stem in the distillation process.
Main therapeutic constituents: anethol, linalol, limonene.
Wellness Support: Anise aromatherapy essential oil is a very effective in assisting with digestion. It is particularly helpful for indigestion, nausea, and appetite stimulation. It also has demonstrated antibacterial and antifungal properties.*
Perfumery: Anise has a warm, soft, spicy, sweet, rich fragrance.
Oils That Blend Well With Anise: Anise oil’s warm aroma blends well with lavender, pine, and rose attar.
Cautions and Contraindications: Anise’s toxic rating is high and a skin patch test is required. Anise should not be used in excessive doses, (more than 3-drops, three times per day or with prolonged use over two to three weeks), as it can slow down the circulation causing circulatory and nervous system disorders. It may irritate the skin if it is applied undiluted, although this is not likely. Do not exceed a maximum of 3-drops, three times a day. Do not administer for longer than 14 consecutive days. Avoid internally and externally in pregnancy, breast-feeding, estrogen-dependant cancers , liver disease, endometriosis, and prostatic hyperplasia.
Formulas:
STRESS REDUCING MASSAGE FORMULA
Sweet almond oil: 1/2-cups
Anise Pimpinella anisum oil: 6-drops
Rose attar Rosa damascena oil: 6-drops
Nutmeg Myristica fragrans oil: 6-drops
Blend all ingredients and use as massage oil.
RELAXING MASSAGE FORMULA
Anise Pimpinella anisum oil: 6-drops
Benzoin resinoid Styrax benzoin oil: 6-drops
Chamomile Matricaria recutita (German) oil: 6-drops
Base oil of your choice: 2-oz
Blend all ingredients and use as massage oil.
